Last week I took a poll in my wellness group on Facebook. Today I want to take a moment to share some insights and illuminate an area that many of us struggle with. Mood & Behavior.

The question was...If you had the tools and knowledge to choose the mood you wanted to feel and then actually feel it (without harmful substances or recreational drugs) would you use it?

The choices to answer were: I wish I knew how. Do those tools even exsist? I want off big Pharma so bad...help me manage my nervous system.

To my surprise everyone who particapted clicked DO THOSE TOOLS EVEN EXIST.

The answer is, YES! Yes, these tools do exist and today I want to talk with you about them. As well as why these tools work with your body the way that they do. We are nature and she is awaiting our return. Not that mordern medicine hasn't made some advancements, but it's time to make changes that aren't diminenshing our bodies in the process. The type of change that brings healing.

I learned first hand how much the medical community has changed when I had the worst expericene of my life happen over 7 years ago. I can remember being a child and going to the doctors for myself or with my grandmother, and the vibe was quite different from that of 7 years ago and even todays. As a child, doctors were more wellness focused. Addressing the causes. I could feel it in how they spoke with patience as well as how they perscribed. But somewhere a major shift happened and medicine became more focused on diagnosis and treat. No education. Heck, most paitents don't even truly understand why they are doing what they are doing, but doc said so. The time for this type of treating to end is now. Time for this narrative to shift and I'm here to assist in the shift of bringing us back to living a life of true wellness.

What is wellness?

Wellness is best characterized by not merely the absence of disease but by feeling good and enjoying one's life. How you feel-physically, mentally, and emotionally-determines the state of your overall health and well-being. Many would even argue that health is ones greatest asset because it affects how you think, feel, move, interact, prosper, and achieve. When you don't feel well, every aspect of your life becomes impacted.

So how do we live more of a wellness life versus a treatment life? We must become more focused on education, self-awareness, and prevention. The wellness lifestyle addresses its causes-what lies beneth the symptoms/disease. Did you know that your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, habits, and choices are fueling the fires of inflammation, pain, toxicity, & illness in your body?! When we begin adressing the root causes of disease rather than merely treating the symptoms, we can assist the body in healing itself. Your body is capable of healing itself naturally. Most of the time, it does not need synthetic medictions to take over its job, but rather the right support tools that enable it to do what it was created to do. They key to our wellness is learning what serves our body, then restoring to the body what it needs. This is how one yields lasting healing and continued wellness.

Remedies that assist & heal the body

As a wellness advocate it is important when I speak with clients to gain a 360 picture. What's going on with the mind, body, & the soul. We are not any one of these parts without the other. So I need to understand how those areas are feeling. How are they being treated currently & then we can talk about the symptoms. Understanding and addressing every part of our being is how one even begins to understand what plant remedies, herbs or essential oils are needed to assist the body in healing.

Essential oils 101

Essential oils have been here longer than humans. They are the provider of protection from predators to the plants they are extracted from. They have been used throughout the world for millennia & just so happens to be one of nature's most powerful support tools available to help your body heal itself. Every aspect of your life can be supported by an essential oil. Crazy I know. Let's look at a few ways they can assist you.

  • Cleaning

  • Cooking

  • Skincare

  • Animal Care

  • Enhancing the air in a room (aromas)

  • Support emotional & physcial needs of the body (stress/anxiety/fatigue)

Essential oils are amazing! But you must understand where you are getting your oils if you plan to use them in a therapeutic way. The overall quality of essential oils is very important when using them topically or internally. Many oils on the market will tell you they are "pure", but if you read closely they also tell you not to ever apply to your skin. Why? Because they are full of synthentics and things not certified to be on or inside the body. Most lower-grade essential oils are extracted through chemical processess or with solvents, increasing yield & profit but decreasing purity & potency. FYI-that's not a pure oil & if you even diffuse these types of oils you are putting all those synethics & chemicals into your body by way of air when you diffuse them.

What you want to seek out are oils that are CPTG Quality (Certified Pure Tested Grade-pure, potent, genuine, and authentic). https://doterra.me/7rzSYn Honestly, I won't even buy an oil unless its CPTG. If I can't use it in all ways, then why even diffuse it? Let alone buy it?

In 2018 (pre-CoViD) $3,649.4 BILLION was spent on health care in the United States. Now tell me, do you feel any healither? What if you could resend those script payments and shift them into a life giving investment? And even have some funds left in your wallet. While knowing each dose you use is 1.)Pennies on the dollar. 2.)Giving life while targeting the root. 3.)Not polluting your system to unnecessary chemicals.

Why oils work with our body

Since we humans are carbon-based, just like plants, the extracted essential oils are compatible. Therefore beneficial. To help you understand let's look at Tea Tree oil. Melaleuca alternifolia (aka Tea tree) is a small tree that typically grows along streams & swampy areas of Australia. This is a very consistently humid and hot region. Now, think of all the many types and numbers of microbes growing here. I mean it's a breeding ground for fungus, mold, & bacteria. Any plant wishing to thrive, produce & reproduce, in this condition must have a strong internal immune system. The Magic lies in the primary constituents of the aromatic compounds found in tea tree, mainly a- and y- terpinenes, Terpinen 4-ol, and p-cymene, which are naturally antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, and analgesic in their nature.

Just like those aromatic compounds protect the tree same happens when we use this same oil to strengthen protection from microbes in our own bio terrain.

Another cool quality of essential oils is the molecular size of their active compounds. They are uber small; they quickly pass through the dermal layers of the skin, are absorbed directly into the bloodstream,(in some cases) cross the blood-brain barrier, & easily penetrate the cell membrane. Simply put, essential oils are accessible and transferable into the body. So yes, there are tools out there that can assist & heal your body!

If I sat here and listed every oil for every disease/aliment that we know of, your mouth would hit the floor. So I'll leave you with these oils for some of the top concerns I deal with daily for myself or when assisting my wellness clients in building their collective needs.

How to start...

Like the old saying goes.. just Do It. Find a wellness advocate, holistic physician, trusted Doctor Who is open-minded to multiple forms of healing....And sit down and have an honest conversation without judgment about what you're dealing with. How are you currently coping when stresses arise? What are you eating? How much are you moving? Starting the journey actually begins with having an honest conversation. And painting yourself a very clear picture. And once that pictures painted making a decision of what to keep and what must go.

A true Wellness Journey involves you 100% of the time. Yes, you can lean on and will lean on those who have deeper knowledge in the Arts, as you grow your own knowledge. But a wellness Journey requires you to be present and asking questions of yourself and of those around you. It requires you to become very aware of what you do and what you don't do. It's the best science project you'll ever work on in my opinion. Though a wellness Journey many days will simply be you and you alone, there is support out there for when you need deeper knowledge and understanding.
