It’s like a scene from a sci-fi novel: in milliseconds, heat hotter than the sun melts everything around, including metal, causing horrific burns.
An arc flash, the visible part of an arc fault, results in intense heat and light. It happens when energy rapidly travels between phase busbars or to the ground, turning air into a conductor and creating a short-circuit. Arc faults are among the deadliest electrical issues, causing explosions that severely damage equipment and pose a grave danger to anyone nearby.
