My name is Dorcas Magbadelo and I am an artist who works primarily within illustration. I've also started exploring ceramics and metal-smithing within my artistic practice. I have been illustrating under my brand name DorcasCreates since 2016. Almost 10 years! Maybe you've been following me since my Tumblr days or maybe we met in person at a craft market or at an event (I did a lot of those between 2016-2020!) I mainly create illustrations of Black women/femmes that center and celebrate us.

I have spent the past 10 years juggling my artistic practice with part-time administrative roles and have now reached the point where I need to focus solely on my creativity. I feel excited to work more with clay and metal and see what else I can make and dream up once I give myself space to play and experiment creatively.

Which is why I believe that artists need patrons. It's important for artists to have the space and time to dream expansively and really follow their creative curiosities and whims.
