Barn Door Hinge

Barn Door Hinge

Oct 16, 2023

One of my customers asked if I could make a replacement hinge for his barn door, one of his old hinges had cracked. The old hinge has a loop on one end and a couple of bends and a flattened area at the end, and some holes to attach it to the door.

I was able to replicate it using some basic blacksmithing and using my anvil which I believe is made from a section of old rail track. First job was to bend the loop on the end where it hooks over a pin on the barn wall and then do the other bends. Then the material was cut to length and the end flattened down to match the profile of the original. I don't have a square punch to punch the holes, so I'll drill these out.
