I been using Dettol every time I killed a cockroach with my Baygon cockroach killer spray, Dettol do help in reducing the smell of pesticide and ward off cockroaches to a certain extent.When I said to a certain extent I do not mean that Dettol are not effective but basically we can only clean some places and reach some places to clean it.Dettol are also better choice to use without serious consequences of pesticide spray, especially inside your bedroom.
When Dettol are being used to mop the floor ever since in my household, I noticed that cockroach crawl on the side way with lesser Dettol and do not cross to other sides just like floor is lava.I seem it for 2 nights in the kitchen and decided to change one poison bait position to that area and since then I have no more encounters of it.
How do it fare in killing of cockroach?I always had a bottle of spray content made out of diluted Dettol and one time I decided to try it out on a cockroach coming out of the storeroom.I quickly sprayed on the young adult cockroach (base on the size of it I assume is still young) yet it still managed to crawl, I furiously sprayed even more and it stopped in track for while.At first I thought okay it seem dead although it did not flip over but then all of a sudden it manages to crawl back into the storeroom.
I cursed to myself thinking that Dettol is lousy against cockroach, as a person with cockroach phobia I always wanted to make sure the asshole stays dead right in front of my eyes.Days passed and I did not encounter that cockroach anymore.
Is only recently that I realised the effectiveness depends on the percentage of Dettol use.Let me tell you my most recent story.....One night I was about to use the bathroom and when I closed the door, I noticed something sticking out of the door gap, immediately I knew what it was and so in my head I am already cursing non-stop.I carefully unlocked the door and carefully pushed back the door and ran out of the bathroom.
Poison baits was so effective that I hasn't restock my Baygon and I was left with my Dettol spray, fear was in my head because I need to flush the cockroach out of hiding and I was standing outside for a period of almost 30min before I decided to slowly creep back in and spray the shit out of my door and it works!!!!
Lucky for me the cockroach decided to drop to the floor and I quickly ran out and ready my spray as it tries to escape and it did but I was not about to give up.I refilled it with more Dettol and water, I am not sure if there was 2 of them as I saw another one coming out from the bathroom and this time it wasn't so lucky as I sprayed furiously emptying half a bottle to knock it back and finally I won the battle.It flipped and if there are actually 2 of them, I believed that the first one just died a slower death.Still it would never survive since I had placed baits that night too.
So now I had more battle data to tell me that Dettol would work on cockroach but you may need undiluted pure Dettol to kill a cockroach and you need to tune your spray nozzle to fire stream of it not misty type.There are many different types of Dettol but I suggest getting the original orange colour Dettol.
