One thing about President Trump is that he doesn’t hold back when it comes to being honest, whether people like it or not. A lot of what he says actually carries truth, but the way he says it tends to strike a nerve. That discomfort often reveals more about people’s reaction to raw honesty than it does about him.

In a culture where everyone’s used to putting on a polished front, someone who speaks plainly, even bluntly, makes for an easy target.

So when he says things like, “I can’t forgive,” or “I don’t know if I’m going to heaven,” it’s because he means it. He hasn’t been transformed by the gospel. That’s not something I celebrate, it’s simply the truth, in his own words.

What really shocks me, though, is when Christian commentators act surprised by this, or worse, when they seem to enjoy it, painting him as some kind of devil. Since when do believers rejoice in someone being lost? Is it just because it’s him that people feel justified in celebrating the idea of his damnation?

If your hatred for a man runs so deep that the thought of him suffering in hell brings you satisfaction, and you can’t see the darkness in that, then honestly, I feel sorry for you.

Here’s what’s even more heartbreaking: some of your own family members are in the exact same spiritual condition, lost, without Christ. And yet, you think they’ll believe you care about their souls when they hear how viciously you talk about another man who’s just as lost?

That doesn’t add up.

I’m not shocked by the ugliness people say anymore. What gets me is how easily others are pulled into it, joining the slander and hate, often while claiming to stand for truth. Where was all this commentary during the Obama or Biden Administration, those men are just as lost as this one.

President Trump is no different than any other man who, apart from Christ, is spiritually dead and in desperate need of life. And what’s truly sad? If he were to come to saving faith, many would still find a way to condemn him. That’s to your own shame.

I truly pray that the Lord would move Paula White out of the way and raise up a true man of God, someone humble enough to wear a servant’s towel, someone willing to come alongside the President and share the real gospel. The one that saves.

President Trump needs Jesus. Just like your family. Just like mine. Just like you and me.

God, have mercy on us all. We desperately need it.

And no, this isn't bringing politics into the "church". I don't need a "this isn't wise" rebuke. I'm a little sick of hearing that! It is "politics in the church" when we say something about it, but not when you do?

Hypocrites.

Honestly, I’m ashamed of what I see in so much of America right now. This need for attention has pulled out the worst in people.

But… I’ll leave it there.
