During the pandemic while my team was busy figuring out how to do church online (recording sermons and all that) I tried an experiment.
I heard somewhere from Gary Vee, just post 100 videos to get content out. Since I’ve always wanted to write music, I took the challenge as an opportunity to just try.
In the process I learned these things:
Consistency gets you to a place where you know what you want to focus on. As you hit 100 and more, you begin re-write your initial plan until you figure out what works. 100 is just building momentum and volume. You get to know what you like and don’t like. For me it wasn’t the music, it was short animations.
Consistency creates Volume and out of that you hone your Focus.
I think I’m trying to figure that out on Substack as well. This week has been packed. But it gave me time to also reflect on where to chart what I should focus on writing.
I draw my own maps when the local maps don’t direct me to where I want to go. I write out my experience, process and frameworks. Here is my map to help me navigate my life. Hopefully that will inspire others who read to draw out their own maps.
