I wanna swim the ocean deep
See what undiscovered beauties it keeps
Sink down to the seabed
Rest my head
Hope I don't get eaten…
The pressure down there that would crush you
Might balance the pressure on the inside too
Treasures the human mind wouldn't believe
Not gold, no bounty, no place for thieves
Poseidon won’t be beaten
Untouched by the corruption of human hands
Down there nature reigns and chaos abounds
Presumably, anyway, we’ll never find out
Venturing there is to submit to the hounds
The waves mask the feasting
It's the urge to breathe underwater
The same one that tells you to turn into oncoming traffic
Or wonders what might happen if you took one more step
While you're looking down at the pavement below
Trying to unscramble the words
Written down in semiconsciousness
When the mind runs overactive at the point of exhaustion
You'll never get them back
So why do we spend life looking back
Over our shoulders
Time’s still passing
Still getting older.
