For example, think if the first 12 bars of Sweet Georgia Brown!
Only 3 dominant chords! For me in Bb pitch - G7 C7 F7. That is a lot of time to spend on each chord.
By having lots of vocabulary like approach notes, chord notes, rhythm, chromatic enclosures and the fats lick at your disposal (I could go on and on here) you have almost an endless way of getting through the changes!
