I am trying to put myself into the position of the Guthrie family, but I honestly can’t. Because I’m not famous or rich. Because I don’t know them personally. And because I’ve never had a family member go missing. Except that one time in Walmart when my 5 year old wandered away from me and I started screaming and scared half the store to death.
It’s hard to put yourself into another person’s shoes. We never know what goes on in families behind closed doors, or what their internal family dynamics are, even IF they are in the public eye. Just because someone is on TV, doesn’t mean that we “know them”. We just think we do because they may be in our homes on the screen every day.
I can, however, imagine an 84 year old, mobility-challenged, independent woman. I’ll probably be one of them in a few decades, God willing. A person who has lived in her own home for decades usually feels a certain sense of inherent security and safety within their home and the community.
When Nancy Guthrie first went missing, I remember staying up all night (for several nights) watching YouTubers with all the latest information. Refresh the screen. Refresh again. Then there were the middle of the night “take downs” with SWAT and FBI and local police and on the ground reporting from people like Brian Entin, who stayed perched outside her house and on the scene longer than anyone else. His video captured the now-famous blood droplets, and he was first on the scene when the big “takedown” happened. Sadly, none of those takedowns and middle of the night drama ever amounted to anything.
What struck me the most about this whole “kidnapping” was that the family was not front and centre. Then I try again to imagine myself in this situation…
If I were the daughter, son, or even grandchild of Nancy Guthrie, I would be on the ground, in front of the camera lenses, asking for help to do a grid search. I would NEVER give up looking for my mother or grandmother, no matter how long it took.
If I had the means to do so, I would make it my life’s mission to find missing people. I certainly would NOT be going back to my day job after this happened, especially since she is STILL MISSING.
The fact that this family did pre-recorded videos and a few Instagram posts and NEVER, not once, stood out in the actual public and asked for help, struck me as EXTREMELY odd. They did videos that were scripted, and even said words directly from the movie, “Silence of the Lambs.” That was so strange. Listening to that, it literally felt like I was watching a scene from a movie. People went on and on about Savannah and her husband and their connections to Democrats and high profile people like Bill Clinton, yet their offering towards the reward was $2400? WHAT NOW?
I’ve seen people like Chris Watts, who have stood in front of cameras and lied right to our faces about wanting their loved one to return, so excuse me if I don’t believe everyone I see crying on TV about wanting their child, bother, sister, or spouse, coming home.
If you’re old enough, you may also remember the tears and pleas of one Susan Smith, who tried to dupe us all, blaming a black man who didn’t actually exist, after literally watching her car roll into John D. Long Lake with her kids (Michael and Alexander) still strapped into their car seats.
There are people on Youtube who are still milking this case for all its worth. Livestreams with hundreds and even thousands of people tuning in to hear the latest “former FBI” talk about “the case”. Still happening on the daily.
But not her family. That’s the elephant in the room. These strange people in this family are apparently moving on with their lives. Savannah is now back at work, and even hosting a new “Wordle” show. This is how celebrities roll in 2026, apparently!
Forgive me if I am aghast at all this. A family that cares about their mother should still be pleading for help. This is a whole human being that literally vanished from her home in the middle of the night. Or from somewhere else the night before, for all we know.
I think that people are still talking about this because it’s just shocking that in 2026, when literally even our heartbeats are being tracked 24x7, that this could EVER happen. Nancy Guthrie wore an Apple watch. Anyone who has ever worn one knows that it tracks everything from your breathing and heart rate, when you fell asleep, when you stood up, ECG, Blood Oxygen, noise decibel level in the environment you are in, the number of steps you took and your GPS coordinates when you did so, elevation, how many steps you climbed, all the way to tracking if you have had a hard fall and sending an alert. It knows the sunset and sunrise on that day, the moon rise on that night. Was it a full or crescent waning moon? It knows that as well. Conveniently, Nancy’s watch was left behind. However, she did have it on at some point so whoever has her watch and phone (FBI or PCSO) knows when she took that watch off. At a bare minimum, Apple does.

Nancy also wore hearing aids and in addition to that, much has been made about her pacemaker and the app on her phone that connected to it. I’m not sure what specifically that tracks, but, combined with the Apple watch, that’s a lot of information.
She lived in a designated dark area in the Catalina Foothills, so there were no street lights near her home. This is another convenient fact that adds one more intriguing detail to this strange case.
She took an Uber to her daughter Annie’s home that night. Someone ordered that Uber and I’m not sure if there is video if her inside that car on her way to Annie’s home or not, but they surely have interviewed the Uber driver. Much has been said about having an 84 year old take an Uber instead of you driving the short drive over to get “mama” for dinner and a games night. Who knows why.
Then there is the Ashleigh Banfield “Tomasso” bombshell..when Ashleigh stated on her newly created and growing Youtube channel that her “reliable source” told her that he “may be” the top POI in this case. Anyone who follows true crime knows that the last person who saw the victim is usually the one that killed them. That’s a statistical fact. Not really breaking news, yet her video got over 2 milllion views and she has been ridiculed every since. Her subscriber count increased accordingly. No PR is bad PR when you’re building your Youtube audience, obviously.
Sheriff Nanos, who had earlier been interviewed by Banfield, stated, “To the media, I plead with you to be careful of what it is we put out there, because we don’t have anybody here listed as a suspect, and you could actually be doing some damage to the case — but you can do some damage to that individual too” … “Social media is kind of an ugly world sometimes.”
Oh Nanos…I. Just. Cannot. THIS MAN. I. Just. Cannot. His words speak for themselves. Hopefully the truth about this man will be revealed in time. This case was bungled from the get go. Perhaps they are doing a cover up. Perhaps someone from that office is involved. Time will give us those answers, hopefully.
Then there was the fake ransom note. Strike that. NOTES. Emails and texts. Wow!
I’ve lost track of how many. Four? Five? Ten?
In my humble opinion, the ENTIRE ransom note debacle (and yes, that is what this is) is just so bizarre. I’ve never heard of a ransom note being sent to local media vs. the family. Why TMZ, of all places? I smell rotting fish here. This stinks worse than JonBenet Ramsay’s note.
Then there are the gazillion conspiracy theories that are keeping this story alive. Too many to count. “Porch guy” was video from a Nestcam that was removed, and that it was from different days. This has never been confirmed or denied by PCSD or the FBI. Porch guy (or gal - Nano’s word, not mine)….clothes and backpack bought at Walmart….strangely placed gun holder….video from two different nights? Nancy’s blood on the front stoop while the back door was “propped open” when Annie and presumably Tommaso….first she “didn’t show up for church” then there never was an actual church….just a planned meetup at a friend’s house to watch church on Zoom or Youtube….
There are the people who think it is a distraction from the Epstein files. There are the people who believe it’s revenge against Savannah. Jealousy by some coworker who wanted to take her spot at the Olympics, or take her job at Today. The ratings went up when Savannah left in late 2025 to have vocal surgery. Newspapers reported that the ratings went up after Savannah went off on her vocal surgery sick leave, and she was “fearful of losing her job”. Some think it was because of Nancy’s husband working in the mining industry from years back. Others believe it is a rando sexual assaulter roaming the streets of the Catalina Foothills. One thing I did learn is that Tuscon is not a place I want to be or visit. Ever. Which is too bad because it does look very beautiful. But, hard no. Sorry, Tuscon.
The 911 call. Never released. Why? RELEASE IT! I demand to hear that call!
There was the Today Show feature that happened not that long before Nancy went missing. Nancy, Annie and Savannah had lunch and Savannah talked with her mom about why she loved living in Tuscon. Why she planted roots there.
Nancy’s words were very eerie, looking back…“It’s so wonderful. Just the air, the quality of life. It’s laid back and gentle. Yeah I like to watch the javelina eat my plants.” This poor woman. What happened to her and where did she end. up?
Years ago, Nancy literally gave an AM interview on Today, where she stood in her bedroom in that same Catalina Foothills home, FROM HER BEDROOM, and showed the Today show viewers around the world how she makes her bed. You can’t make this shit up, people….
I could go on and on and on about this and how odd it all is. But you already know that if you’ve been following this case with any regularity since February.
I’ll end this post with the strange words used by the family on that very first “Bring Nancy Home” plea video. This had some of us literally falling off our chairs. It was just SO ODD.

She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive. She needs it not to suffer. We too have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us. Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God’s precious daughter, Nancy. We believe and know that even in this valley, he is with you. Everyone is looking for you, Mommy. Everywhere. We will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again. We speak to you every moment and we pray without ceasing and we rejoice in advance for the day that we hold you in our arms again. We love you, Mom. We love you, Mom. Stay strong. We love you, Mom.
