In my last yoga lesson, I learned the concept of non-stealing in yoga. It’s called Asteya, and it’s focused on avoiding thoughts that rob you of feeling enough.
We need to realize how complete we are, by just being who we are.
All resources needed for your happiness and success are already within you. When you realize it, you stop chasing happiness outside you.
But how to notice when you rob your peace with your thoughts? Try doing some yoga and notice where your frustrations are directed. What negative thoughts visit your headspace frequently?
During the lesson, I noticed that thoughts like the ones below make me feel like I’m not enough:
“they probably don’t like me”
“I will not be able to finish doing XYZ today”
“I don’t know how to love myself”
“I have ugly hands/ [other parts of my body]”
“I will never become what I want to become”
etc.
Being able to stop negative self-talk and control one’s thoughts is a habit we should practice every day to feel comfortable in our skin.
You don’t need to compensate and look outside yourself for whatever you need. You already have it within you.
