Before accessing the inner depths first of all you have to learn how to be, which means to accept that you’re intelligent or wise, to accept that you know a lot about this or that, to accept that you don’t need that right now to be there, here wherever you are right now. Breathing is the anchor that keeps you grounded in being, you may want to know what being is but as you already read, that you don’t have to know right now because your intelligence is not needed to be there, for example, the dog does not need to learn how to be, is just there in the present moment because is not thinking. To be is to pay your full attention to your breath and be aware of sensory perceptions without using your mind, just be there as the presence aware of your breathing, aware of your body, and feel the energy field in the body. Connecting with nature is the easiest way to learn how to be, it takes you out of your mind sitting in nature just looking at the tree and its stillness slowly moving its branches in the wind yielding unaffected yet still there. You can learn that by looking at the way how a simple rock is or whatever another inanimate object you want to see. To be is to detach from usual mental activity and stop your mind in moments of restfulness where you don’t have to understand or to know anything, you don’t have to think at anything, you don’t have to think at all. To be is to connect with the source of who you are, to sense that peace that passes all understanding, then when you start thinking again your insights are creative, pristine, powerful, having a great impact still, you remain detached untouched not identifying with that which had its source from deep within. To be is to use intelligence only when is needed, there are many moments in your life when you don’t have to think, so why not use those moments to learn how to be. To be is to realize where you are, and its not late to see that you are there, don’t bother if the mind is active, just be aware that you are there as a presence. Allow yourself short moments of being there without thinking and paying attention to the present moment to detach from different activities when you are not doing it and just be there as the presence that you are, remember you don’t have to use your intelligence to understand how to be. So to go further remember that to pay your full attention to your breath is one of the prerequisites of reading this book properly, take a deep breath in, and slowly breath out.
