I’ve just added a new digital piece to the gallery! This artwork reimagines the historic Sowerby Bridge Canal Basin—originally photographed in October 2013—through the vibrant, expressive lens of Henri Matisse and Fauvism.
Instead of a standard landscape, this piece breaks down the classic West Yorkshire waterway into bold color blocks, defined lines, and a playful palette. Warm ochre stonework, rich teal and ultramarine waters, and vivid autumn greens transform the docked narrowboats and canal basin into a lively, modern scene while keeping the heart of Calderdale intact.
If you enjoy this post-impressionist take on local history and heritage landscapes, consider buying me a coffee to help support future restorations, digital art creations, and archive projects!
Every coffee helps keep the art, history, and creative updates coming. Thank you for your ongoing support!
