When it comes to making soap, I say keep it simple.
You don't need to complicate things.
I like to keep my base recipe under 5 ingredients.
Olive oil ( Gentle, moisturising and highly conditioning)
Coconut oil (maximum recommendation 30% to balance out the lather and conditioning properties)
Shea butter ( highly conditioning but you don't need much, it also helps harden the soap)
Castor oil 2% ( too much castor oil makes your soap mushy)
Essential oils 3% of oils
Keeping it simple keeps costs low and allows you to master batch your recipe so much easier.
Try this simple soap formula.
Olive oil 40%
Coconut oil 30%
Shea butter 20%
Castor oil 10%
Run it through a soap calculator and aim for a water discount of 32-34% to allow your soap to cure faster and avoid soda ash
It's highly conditioning and creates beautiful big bubbles.
Until the next post
