10 Japanese words I use in my Insta Stories daily !

May 03, 2022

If you are a fan of my livestreams , or you just want to know a few basic Japanese words, these 10 words are a good start ! You will see them in my stories and hear them in my livestreams! Lots of love 💕, Cindy

  1. ARIGATOU (GOZAIMASU)*: Thank you

*gozaimasu is used to show respect, especially when talking to someone you don't know. You can just say “arigatou” mean talking to friends. But if you come to Japan and talk to strangers, I recommend you say the full phrase: arigatou gozaimasu ❣️

  2. OHAYOU (GOZAIMASU)*: Good morning ☀️!

*gozaimasu is used to show respect, especially when talking to someone you don't know. Many people just say Ohayou to their friends and family members(informal).image

  3. KONNICHIWA: Hello/ Good afternoon. This also means “hello” in Japanese. You can use this with anyone in Japan and they will think you are polite ❤️

  5. OYASUMI (NASAI) : Goodnight .

You can just say Oyasumi to your family and friends , but “Oyasumi nasai” to be more formal and polite.image

  6. KAWAII : cute 🥰 I definitely use this word the most ! Everything in Japan is kawaii !!image

  1. KIREII : pretty😍 / clean 🧽. This word can be used to say something is beautiful , like a park, flowers or a person , but you can also use it to say something is clean, for example : public bathrooms in Japan are kireii (clean) ! Or the streets are kireii in Japan (clean streets with no rubbish lying around )!image

  1. SUKI : to like .

Eg: I like cats = Neko ga suki (desu*).

eg: I like matcha 🍵 = maccha ga suki (desu*) *desu is used at the end of Japanese sentences to show politeness.

  1. NIHON/NIPPON: 🇯🇵 Japan.

Both Nihon and Nippon mean Japan. In my experience though, Nihon is more common, but for example the Japanese airline ANA is an abbreviation for “All Nippon Airways”.image

    1. NIHONGO: Japanese language.

This refers to the Japanese language specifically, not the country or people of Japan.image
