A thunderstorm over the ocean with the Supermoon shining above Umhlanga Rocks.
A potential thunderstorm had been predicted for tonight which left me feeling hopeful.
It was also the super full moon this evening, however it was completely overcast so I put the idea of taking a photo of the moon out my mind.
I had just gotten home, and suddenly the heavens opened up with a massive downpour, with bright flashes of lightning in the clouds.
I quickly headed out to a spot with some overhead cover on Bronze Beach to take a few photos.
The storm moved very quickly out towards the sea. I couldn't photograph many strikes as the rain was too heavy, but the flashes were blinding. The ocean roar mixing with the roar of the thunder was almost deafening. The salty air electric.
As the storm moved further out to see, the clouds parted and the full moon shone down from high above. Flashes and traces of lightning raging above the ocean in the distance. Majesty in motion.
This is what I managed to capture. I hope that you like it.
This photo is comprised of two separate images, one for the foreground of the shore and storm, and one for the moon. The moon has been superimposed onto the foreground image to show you what I saw, as I saw it.
South Africa always leaves me breathless from her beauty. Look for the beauty, it's there...
I am Proudly South African.
