Retrospective Storm.

Jul 08, 2021

This storm occurred over Edenvale back in 2016. At the time I was actually DJing at a boxing event. I had set the camera up and whilst DJing I would try and take a few photos, and when I couldn't, a good friend of mine clicked the shutter for me. It was tricky...

Over the years I have found myself coming back to these photos over and over again, and as my editing skills or my personal style develops, I re-edit the photos from that storm. This is a composite image made up of several photos taken during the storm to showcase the separate strikes that were captured.

During the editing process I'll add certain photos or omit certain photos that were captured and then overlay them to create a single image.

It got me thinking about life. We are basically the sum of our experiences here on earth. And the way I see it, we need to constantly grow and learn, and better ourselves. Recognise things which we aren't happy with and start omitting them, or develop new ideas and add them into our lives.

We have the gift of retrospect, and I believe that we should use our past to try and better our future. Einstein said: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results."

Learn from the past, and change what you need to in order to better your future. Your past is there to make learn and grow wiser through your experiences... Or maybe I just overthink...

Regardless, I hope you like the photo.

Nothing quite like a Highveld storm though... Really missing them!

I am Proudly South African.
