Rainbows, a moody sunset. and the near full moon rising over Umhlanga Rocks.
This afternoon we had some much needed rain. As the rain dissipated, the clouds started parting allowing some of the sunshine to spill through. Ideal rainbow weather, so I decided to take my chances and go and chase a rainbow.
Turns out, I was right, and a magnificent rainbow appeared over the ocean. I rushed down to the beach in Umhlanga Rocks and took a quick photo. It was quite windy. The air was fresh and salty as I stood on the beach watching the beauty unfold before me.
It was just before sunset, and the moody clouds hanging over Durban looked incredible, so after I took a photo of the rainbow, I took a quick walk down to the Umhlanga Lighthouse to grab a shot of the moody clouds just before sunset, with the lighthouse in the foreground and Durban in the background.
As the sun set, the clouds turned into beautiful dark soft pinks and reds, and the near full moon could be seen shining through from behind the clouds. Tomorrow is officially full moon, but the moon tonight as I took the photo was illuminated at 99.5% illumination.
