Port Shepstone Sunset.

Port Shepstone Sunset.

Jul 04, 2021
Yesterday I took a drive from Umhlanga down to Ramsgate to deliver a print, so I thought I'd turn it into an adventure and take some photos on the way back.

I've developed a fascination with Lighthouses so I decided to make a turn past the Port Shepstone Lighthouse on the way home to try and capture a photo. When I got there, I also saw the Mzimkhulu Bridge which goes over the Mzinkhulu River which happens to be the largest river on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.

Port Shepstone was founded in 1867 when marble was discovered near the Mzimkhulu River mouth, and is named after Sir Theophilus Shepstone of the Natal government of the 1880s.

I've always been fascinated by the leading lines of railway tracks and have photographed a few over the years, and this particular bridge had a railway track, a road for cars, and the magnificent ocean and river mouth as a view from the bridge. I had to capture a couple of photos.

South Africa has the most magnificent views right across the country. I'm so glad to have seen yet another aspect of her beauty and I thought I'd share a few photos of the beauty of Port Shepstone.
I hope that you like them.

I am Proudly South African.
