Okay so Day 2 of Camp Nanowrimo did not go as planned.
For instance, I am not writing this blog post update at the end of Day 2. Today is actually April 4 (Day 4).
But instead of what I DIDN'T get around to doing, let’s talk about what I DID do on Day 2…
Live Writing Sprints on Youtube
At 9:30a I joined in with my buddy Michael for live writing sprints on his Youtube channel, WriterSanctuary. It was his first time hosting live writing sprints on Youtube, so I wanted to make sure I was there to support. And also, hey, it’s Camp Nanowrimo this month.
Two birds.
Anyway, Michael set us all up with four 25:5 writing sprints - so we would write for 25 minutes and then break for about 5 minutes and chat. It was a fun time. I’m glad I could make it. And I look forward to doing these with him on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
I got off to a slow start with the first couple of sprints because I was not in a good mindset that morning. I had no idea what I was gonna write going into it. And my blog is stuck in limbo again til I can squeeze out enough bucks for web hosting.
But by the end of the 2nd sprint I had an idea formed for a HubPages article, had my basic outline done and was ready to get to work.
Despite my rocky start, I still managed to pull 1,066 words out of my brain for that article. And that was enough to hit my daily goal of 1,000 words/day for Camp.
I Can’t Believe I Forgot The Best Part
The rest of the day kind of got away from me, so that’s all the writing I got done on Day 2.
But late at night, I remembered something - THE BEST PART OF CAMP NANOWRIMO!!!
STATS!!!!
I forgot to update my stats for Day 1.
I forgot all about the official Nanowrimo website.
I hadn’t used that site in over a year.
So I dusted off my nano account, entered my word counts for Days 1 and 2 and earned my first badge =D
It was basically just a digital participation trophy. But I am not a boomer, so I love my digital participation trophies.
Felt pretty good.
That’s it for Day 2.
