Today, our spotlight features Amanda Kandawire, an accomplished airline pilot and one of Africa’s most influential voices in aviation and youth empowerment. Amanda serves as a Senior First Officer on the Airbus A380 in Dubai and is a 2025 recipient of the WAI/Harvard Scholarship for Emerging Leaders.
Beyond the cockpit, Amanda is the founder of Fly Like A Girl, an initiative using aviation and STEM mentorship to empower African youth. She also leads the Women in Aviation South Africa Chapter and runs Buyiswa, her own jewellery brand.
