🎉 SheepCat just got a Brain: The Knowledge Graph Update! 🐑🐈🧠

Apr 17, 2026

A huge thank you to everyone fueling this project with your support! Every coffee helps keep SheepCat local, free, and rapidly evolving.

If you spend your day jumping between a complex SQL database migration, a C# backend feature, and a JavaScript frontend bug, you know that the hardest part isn't the coding it's keeping track of the scattered context.

To solve this, I just merged PR #60, which introduces a massive structural upgrade to SheepCat: A Local Knowledge Graph.

Here is what this new update brings to your workflow:

🗄️ SQLite-Backed Graph Layer: I built this on Python's built-in sqlite3, meaning absolutely zero new dependencies. It runs silently alongside your CSV work log.

🏷️ Task Tags & Timing Notes: You can now categorize tasks dynamically and attach timestamped free-text notes directly to them. No more losing your train of thought when interrupted.

📄 Document Management: This is the game-changer. You can now import files (.txt, .md, .csv, .log) and link them directly to specific tasks. Your documentation and your time tracking are now fully connected.

🤖 Dedicated Doc Eval Model: In settings, you can now designate a completely separate Ollama model specifically for document analysis.

SheepCat is no longer just a time tracker; it’s slowly becoming a fully offline, privacy-first developer brain.

Building out structural updates like this takes serious time and testing. If this new Knowledge Graph layer saves you from the headache of lost context, please consider dropping a coffee in the jar to support the next big feature! ☕⚡
