From Mactan with Love: Lessons from a Destination Wedding Done Right

Jul 15, 2025

Is an intimate, sustainable wedding really worth it?

After doing a destination wedding at Shangri-La Mactan, I say—absolutely.

It was the 10th wedding anniversary of Ryan & Janice.
Only 40 guests—mostly family from the US and close friends from Manila.
Rehearsal dinner at Cowrie Cove, ceremony & reception at the Ocean Pavilion.
We had Sinulog dancers during cocktails and a DJ + live band for the party.
I was both the wedding emcee and event day coordinator.

And yes, it was one for the books.

💚 5 Lessons on Why Intimate & Sustainable Is the New Cool:

One-event venue = less logistics, more fun.
Smaller guest list = deeper connections.
Major suppliers only = less waste, less stress.
Functional giveaways like beach essentials and coasters = no clutter.
Guests stayed until midnight—because they were truly present.

As an advocate for sustainability and green events, let me share with you 3 reasons why sustainability should be on top of our event planning priority 🌍

♻️ It reduces your event’s carbon footprint;
💸 It helps you spend smarter by focusing on what truly matters;
🌱 It’s a conscious way to celebrate love while caring for the planet.

Planning a wedding doesn’t have to be extravagant to be meaningful.
It just needs to be intentional.
This is the kind of celebration Celevents stands for—experiential, heart-centered, eco-friendly.
