The tattered worn pieces

Thrown about in disarray

Picking each one up

Unsure even what they are anymore

Identify something that once resembled life

Notice the heaviness each time

Dragging it through the years

Adding pieces never meant to be

Thought it belongs

Hurts lugging past on my back

How do I lighten this load?

Heave it off with no cares

Everywhere the past is strewn

A moment's hesitation

Thinking, needing to pluck it up

Realization hits hard

This weighed me down all this time

Now my head held high

Hand brushing off

Baggage strewn across the floor
