How easy would it actually be for you to leave your current job?

Not emotionally.

Not theoretically.

Practically.

The **Employment Flexibility Score Excel Template** helps you measure how much freedom you currently have to change employers, work arrangements, or career direction without creating unnecessary financial or career stress.

Instead of asking whether you *want* a career change, this workbook focuses on a harder question:

**Do you have enough flexibility to make one on your own terms?**

### MEASURE YOUR CAREER OPTIONALITY

The workbook evaluates 18 weighted factors across six areas:

• Financial Runway

• Income Independence

• Skill Portability

• Market Mobility

• Work Arrangement

• Life Constraints

Score each factor from 1 to 5 based on your actual situation.

Excel automatically calculates your weighted **Employment Flexibility Score from 0–100**.

Your result is categorized as:

**80–100 — High Flexibility**

Broad optionality with relatively low switching friction.

**65–79 — Strong Flexibility**

Good optionality with a few constraints still worth improving.

**50–64 — Moderate Flexibility**

You have options, but meaningful dependencies remain.

**35–49 — Limited Flexibility**

Changing jobs may create significant financial or career friction.

**Below 35 — Low Flexibility**

Building more runway and portability may be useful before making a major employment move.

### SEE WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK

Your total score is only the beginning.

The Dashboard helps you identify which categories are strengthening your career position—and which ones are reducing your options.

You might discover that your skills are highly transferable but your finances are not ready for a transition.

Or perhaps your savings are strong, but almost all of your income and benefits depend on one employer.

Maybe you have excellent experience but very little external network or recent interview exposure.

Those are very different problems.

They require very different actions.

### TEST BETTER SCENARIOS

The built-in **Scenario Planner** lets you enter realistic target scores for each flexibility category.

The workbook then calculates:

• Current category scores

• Target category scores

• Current weighted contribution

• Target weighted contribution

• Potential score uplift

• Potential overall Employment Flexibility Score

This helps you see which improvements could make the biggest difference before you spend time fixing everything at once.

### TURN THE SCORE INTO ACTION

Knowing your weak areas is useful.

Doing something about them is better.

The included **90-Day Flexibility Action Plan** lets you track:

• Priority

• Flexibility category

• Specific action

• Why the action matters

• Expected impact

• Target date

• Status

• Progress percentage

• Notes

Possible actions could include building more financial runway, reducing dependence on one employer, creating alternative income, improving your professional portfolio, expanding your external network, or reducing lifestyle constraints.

The workbook does not tell you to quit your job.

It helps you become less trapped by it.

### IMPORTANT

The Employment Flexibility Score is a **planning framework, not a forecast**.

It cannot guarantee employment opportunities, salary levels, hiring outcomes, or career success.

The quality of the result depends on how honestly and accurately you score your current situation.

Use the workbook to identify constraints, test options, and make better-informed career decisions.

Because the best time to build career flexibility is usually **before you desperately need it**.
