HMCS Bonaventure.

Apr 14, 2024

A unique view of the Canadian aircraft carrier HMCS Bonaventure. Seen from the stern, details of the flight deck are easily seen.

Taken during the late 1950s, Bonaventure would have carried roughly 30 aircraft. These aircraft would have consisted of McDonnell F2H Banshee fighters, Grumman S-2 Trackers (Known as CS2Fs in Canadian service) for anti-submarine work, and Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw helicopters (known as the HO4S-3 in Canadian service).
