One of the first things I noticed after returning to the classroom was the dire need to update my book collection. Therefore, this community meeting aims to curate a selection of titles specifically targeted at 4th to 6th-grade readers, focusing on books published within the last ten years. By prioritizing recent publications, we aim to showcase contemporary experiences and perspectives that resonate with today's youth. The Book List will have:
200 middle-grade books
100 chapter books
75 picture books
As we know, literature can educate, inspire, and foster empathy. By including books that reflect diverse backgrounds, cultures, identities, and experiences, we can empower young readers to find themselves reflected in the stories they read and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Whether you're an educator, librarian, parent, or avid reader, your input and expertise would be invaluable in creating this booklist. I'm looking for a team of ten folks or so to help me develop this book list.
