Trying to Do Everything at Once
Mistake: Many beginners feel overwhelmed because they try to tackle too many tasks simultaneously, from setting up a website to marketing on all social platforms. And this is from what we see on Instagram every day, the big promises of money without showing proof or anything else. They're looking out for themselves, not you.
Solution: Focus on one area at a time. Start small, master one aspect of your hustle, and then gradually expand. Simple $5 or $10 guides and your own "buy me a coffee" page is what you need to begin. If you put the cart before the horse, you'll quit. You'll get to where you want to be, patience please.
Underestimating the Importance of Branding
Mistake: Skimping on your brand identity—like your logo, color scheme, and messaging—can make your side hustle forgettable.
Solution: Invest time in building a strong brand that resonates with your target audience. Consistent branding builds trust and recognition. If you take a look at the big accounts, they have good brand identity. In my opinion, brand identity is you being you, not something you're taught. Be you. engage with people, if you're super polite, always be polite. If you're sassy and unfiltered, stick to it. That is YOUR brand.
Not Setting Clear Goals
Mistake: Without specific, measurable goals, it’s easy to lose direction and get discouraged.
Solution: Set clear short-term and long-term goals. Break them down into actionable steps and track your progress regularly. This is why i suggest to start right here. You can always get to the big ticket sales if that's your goal. The best part is if it doesn't work, you're out pocket money and not Christmas money. But it will work if you just stay in your lane and that's what my page is for. I'm on your level, not theirs. I know what they know, I'm just not out for myself only.
Ignoring the Power of Networking
Mistake: Many beginners neglect to network, thinking they can do it all on their own. This limits opportunities for growth and learning.
Solution: Join communities, engage with others in your niche, and build meaningful relationships. Networking can open doors to new opportunities and collaborations. When I say networking, I mean, for now, just implement what you're comfortable with. If it's sitting on your couch going through in instagram then do it with a purpose. Pay attention to comments on the pages you stop at within your niche. The hashtags, keywords etc.
Failing to Adapt and Learn
Mistake: Sticking rigidly to your original plan without adapting to feedback or changing market conditions can stifle your growth.
Solution: Be open to learning from your mistakes and evolving your strategy. Stay flexible and willing to pivot when necessary. I've done it, we all do it. You're not born a guru but you can earn your way there.
