What would you preach if the government announced evidence of extraterrestrial life on Friday and Sunday was only two days away?
That question has been sitting in the back of my mind since 2012, when I read A.D. After Disclosure by Richard Dolan and Bryce Zabel. What began as a theological thought experiment eventually became a sermon based on Psalm 147.
The sermon isn’t really about aliens. It’s about what remains true when our understanding of the world changes. It’s about the God who names the stars, heals the brokenhearted, sustains the humble, and has made Himself known to us through Jesus Christ.
With Spielberg’s Disclosure Day now in theaters, I finally dusted off those old notes and finished the manuscript.
