I know. I know. I am a human. So that's why I can share not so common ways to connect with humans.
For connection with me, it's more about the energy you bring in this world. Not necessarily the way you show up for me or with me, it's about the energy that you show up "as" or "with" when no one is watching (or you think no one is watching) wink wink
For other humans, they need more tangible in yo face type of connections to feel as if they're part of a community or something larger than their self.
Before I dive into my not so common ways to connect with humans, let's discuss one thing:
Why is Connection Important To Humans?
For this, I asked AI to tell me what it thought would be the best answer to this question. Here's what AI told me:
Connection is essential to humans as it deeply influences our emotional and mental development, and plays a key role in our overall well-being. Social interactions help shape our understanding of the world and our identity from a young age, fostering emotional growth and a sense of belonging. These connections are not only crucial for mental health, offering support and alleviating loneliness, but also have a significant impact on physical health, enhancing immune function and even increasing longevity.
Moreover, relationships provide resilience and coping mechanisms during stressful times, enabling us to share experiences and receive emotional support. They also facilitate learning and personal growth by exposing us to new ideas and perspectives. In essence, human connections are foundational to our existence, underpinning social cooperation, cultural transmission, and the collective fabric of society.
Honestly, ChatGPT 4 decided to give me a long winded answer, so I asked AI to shorten it up and the above is the shortened version for ease of consumption.
Because you're not here to see what AI says about human connection, are you? You clicked on over to read about ...
Brandy Ellen's Not So Common Ways to Connect with Humans
I like to watch humans and how they engage with one another. I do this without attachment. This simply means I observe without opinion or judgement. It's hard to do this, if you're new observing without attachment aka judgement, but if you can start practicing it? Wow, the things you recognize in human beings is fascinating.
At least to me.
So here are the not so common ways I've seen human beings connect with one another. Some are things I've done, some are not ... enjoy!
Send a 'Which Outfit Today' Photo to your Spouse
If you have a partner who leaves the house to go to work, they may feel left out of the daily functions at the home. It's easy to get disconnected from your spouse if they're gone most of the time and you are home the majority of the time.
So, one way to curb this "left out" feeling, while staying true to yourself, is to share a 'which outfit today' photo sequence with your spouse. They will love that you're showing off your beautiful bod to them, but also? They'll like being part of a decision in your day.
Obviously, only try on clothing that you'd be willing to wear that day in these photos, so your spouse doesn't choose an outfit that you'll argue with them about wearing. ;)
Send a Video Message Text
Another fun way humans can connect with other humans to gain a sense of community, is to send a video message text. Yup, head on over to your favorite person's contact information and record a little hello or have a great day message.
Be sure to make it similar to how you'd talk to them in person, so you're not putting on some fake persona. This will make that special person in your life, a partner or friend, feel as if they matter because you took the time to send a video text instead of just a written text message.
Send Some Flowers or a JibJab Video Card
I was just going to say to send some flowers, but then I realized the cost of living is intense these days so I'm sure flowers are rather expensive to send.
Although, I have been eyeing some bouquets lately to buy myself a little pretty set of flowers. Ahem, friends! Flowers, I need some for connection. Ha! Send me a tip below and I'll go buy myself some flowers and share them on social - I mean if I get enough "tips" or "buy me a coffee" as it says to buy myself a small bouquet from you out there in the virtual world.
Anyways, that's when I remembered that there is a thing called JibJab video cards and they're like receiving flowers, but in a more personal way.
Sit Next to a Stranger
Head on down to your local cafe or coffee shop and have yourself a seat next to a stranger. I mean, feel out their energy first to get a good reading of their vibe before just plopping down beside them. You see, not everyone is as warm and bubbly as you are :)
Just have a little chat with them, ask what they do for a living, how they spend their days and what brings them joy. This little chat will make their day. They will feel connected in an otherwise disconnected world.
There you have it, my friends, my not so common ways to connect with humans. Do you have more ideas for human connection?
