Gate:Way - Crystal Fragments trailer, and a little backstory.

Jun 30, 2021

Hey there, coffee drinkers! Bowtie here to tell you that there IS INDEED a trailer out for my game! My pride and joy, the years gone by, the project from the heart.

To give you some background...I started writing stories just a couple years before high school. Little short stories, really. At some point I wrote a story about a man who stepped through a portal into a new dimension. It never went past the first book, but it was a full story for my younger self, 117 pages I believe. I always wanted to do more, but never got past drafting.

Shoot to years later, and I've got a look at a funky little doodad of a game engine, with no idea how to use it. All I knew is that I wanted to learn how to. So I just started experimenting with everything I could. Every tool at my disposal, I just started picking at and exploring, like a child peeling apart an orange and putting it under a magnifying glass to see and understand all he never did before.

During my experimenting phase, I started fooling around with a sort of Doctor Who-esque story. Never went anywhere with that one, made a TARDIS and that was the most of it. But then I had a dream...a dream of prison of CUTO, which later became a location in the game. Then I had a dream of the Gateway itself. And I started thinking to myself...how many dreams do we let slip by every time with sleep? So I started writing down my dreams as often as I could.

Those dreams became the inspiration for my game. The stories in my dreams, the adventures and the moments, the experiences and the terrors...they became something more.

This is just one game of MANY I plan to work on. This is not the only story I plan to tell. So many more places to see, so many more lives to document, so many more nightmares to fight and dreams to follow. Crystal Fragments is the beginning in the traversal of the Gate:Way. I hope you'll stick around to see just how far this rabbit hole might go.

Thank you, each and every one of you, who supports myself as well as this project. As someone who works mid-to-night shift, I'm usually working on my stories late into the night, most of the time going to bed when the sun is waking up. That being said, each coffee helps me stay awake while being able to awaken the characters and worlds and events that I've been so excited to bring out since the first dream that inspired it all.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.
