Can you believe we are starting another year?! It is the perfect time and season to set our intentions, especially those that inspire action and growth. We all know from experience that vague resolutions and goals like “save money” or “be healthier” usually fizzle by January 15th or 30th. However, if you create goals using the SMART goals technique, you might accomplish every goal this year!
What are SMART goals? SMART goals are a framework used to provide clarity for your goals. The SMART goals technique forces you to create actions that will help you stay focused and motivated.
S means Specific.
M means Measurable
A means Achievable
R means Relevant
T means Time-bound
You clearly define what you want to achieve using the SMART goals technique. For example, you can set a goal to read 12 books this year, instead of just writing "read more." Then, you set a goal you can track. For example, you can aim to save $5,000 this year by setting aside $416.67 into monthly savings. Next, you examine your goal to make sure it is measurable. For example, I aim to exercise at least three times a week for at least 30 minutes. This goal is more realistic than writing down “work out every day.”

Ensure that your goal is realistic based on your resources and time. For example, you can write down “Take a webinar to improve professional skills” that supports my career advancement. Also, align your goals with your values and long-term vision. Lastly, set a deadline to create urgency. Declutter my entire home by March 31, 2025, by tackling one room per week.
I believe in writing down my goals and breaking each of the into smaller steps. I also find ways to celebrate milestones along the way.
What SMART goals are you setting for 2025? Share them in the comments or send me a message. I would love to hear from you. Let’s hold each other accountable!
