Okay, hello everybody, and welcome to the first trial run post from Black Box Online Radio in the Philippines. I have been here three weeks, but it feels like I have been here for years. Perhaps, it is because I have been coming to this part of the Philippines since last November.
I have been trying my best to keep up with BBOR, and my YouTube channel is most supported through Buy Me a Coffee dot com. I have always known about their posts, but this is the first time that I am using one to send out a message. Life in the Philippines is quite different than the USA, as many can imagine....there are challenges with the internet, as well as dealing with the heat here.
But I still want to create content and put out new episodes on Black Box Online Radio, as well as releasing the audiobook versions of both "Killer on a White Horse" and "Down the Dark Lane." Plus, I have just been working on the new set of shorts for the channel. I am hoping that they will be well-received, but I have found that the YouTube Shorts are quite different than the longform content.
Longform YouTube videos are more like finding the best bait you can for a fishing trip, the one you've known all of your life. It is safe and reliable, and you know it can catch fish...pending that you're going fishing on a reasonable day. The YouTube Shorts are more like casting a net as wide as you can and whatever comes back is what you're stuck with...you might not even get a chance to cast your net a second time. I have only seen two or three examples of when my shorts had second surges where they increased in views. It is just a different world, but I am still exploring it and hoping that I can make both long and short form content on the channel.
Do you ever feel like the creative processes in the brain can go on auto fire? You'll just be sitting down and about take the first sip of the morning coffee. Then, it hits you like a lightning bolt. You have an idea for something, and you become consumed in the idea for 24 hours....Then, the fire goes out. That's how I am with the creation of YouTube videos. I am a time is of the essence individual when it comes to creating.
Let's see where the journey in the Philippines will lead us...................
