20 Roles of the Subconscious Mind

20 Roles of the Subconscious Mind

Dec 06, 2020

1. Subconscious (SC) keeps and organizes ALL of your life memories since birth.

2. It has a very close relationship with your emotional mind-body; emotions impact internal physiology.

3. It sorts your memories in one of two ways:
Temporally – Lists events in order, so you can place them in history.
By subject – Creating ‘Gestalt’ themes that link each memory to other memories that may be in common.

4. It represses memories that contain unresolved negative emotions.

5. Resurfaces repressed memories for emotional resolution when it thinks what is needed to resolve is available. (Unfortunately not always at appropriate moments or with appropriate methods.)

6. SC may repress negative memories for extended periods in an attempt to protect you and allow you to live daily life somewhat ‘normally’ and without the full force of the emotional burden.

7. The SC also manages the body functions (e.g. Heartbeat, Breathing, Immune System activation, etc.). It has a detailed knowledge of your current body state and recalls what the body is like when it's in perfect health.

8. The primary function of the Unconscious is your being's overall survival.

  1. The moral code you were taught and accepted as a child it believes as a whole truth and will continue to operate based on those beliefs until they have been reevaluated.

10. Takes and follows further instruction from your active conscious mind.

11. The senses and filters external data before creating a representation of that data to present to your conscious mind.

12. Regulates energy according to physical and emotional input and output.

13. It is where habits are created and maintained. (Fight/Flight, and intuitive or instinctive behaviors.)

14. Data input that is repetitive eventually receives a conscious application in order to become a new habit or behavior.

15. Constantly seeks for more. (Ready to find and achieve the next goal or task once one has been completed.)

16. Is at peak performance when operating as an integrated whole, with no ‘conflicting parts’ requiring different outcomes.

17. Speaks in visual symbols and metaphors, like a dream does.

18. The SC takes all input literally, as if it were true, and personally - even when talking about things or other people. (**This is why we say to be careful with negative thoughts because they manifest within you!)

19. Acts upon the easiest route to a goal or outcome and follows the path of least resistance. (**Make your goals believable and practical.)

20. The SC does not translate negatives. (In other words, if I tell you ‘don’t think of a pink elephant right now.’ you will see the image of a pink elephant in your mind. (**Change your language and use positive "now tense" phrasing.)
