Today we introduce you to our pianist:

Miguel Vasconcelos (b. 1998) is a Portuguese composer, baritone, and keyboard instrumentalist based in Belgium. He is a founding member of the vocal ensembles “Suave Armonia”, “Moços do Coro”, “Absolute Vocem” and “Súbito 4'33”.

He is currently following his master's in composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp and his bachelor's in vocal studies, having also done his bachelor's in composition at the same institution. He has completed degrees in Choir Conducting (BA) and Music Education (MA) at the University of Aveiro. He has studied singing with Elsa Teixeira, Fernanda Correia, Isabel Alcobia, Luís Rendas Pereira and is currently studying with Gary Jankowsky. His conducting mentors were Vasco Negreiros and António Vassalo Lourenço and he studies composition with Steven Prengels e Bram Van Camp, having studied with Evgueni Zoudilkine e Wim Henderickx.

As a keyboard instrumentalist and as a singer he performs in both early and contemporary chamber music contexts, and is currently following Piano classes with Andrew Wise and Harpsichord classes with Luc Vanvaerenbergh, having had harpsichord masterclasses with Ana Mafalda Castro and João Paulo Janeiro. He also followed workshops about medieval music, namely about the medieval organetto with Cristina Alís Raurich, in Montpellier, and about medieval polyphony with Marcel Pèrés, in Lubomierz.
