🏔 Bivacco Bedin – Practical Route Guide & Overnight Tips

Bivacco Bedin quickly became one of my favorite bivouacs in the Dolomites — not because it’s hard to reach, but because of where it stands and how it feels once you arrive.

This post is for anyone who wants real, practical information before heading there — not just inspiration.

📍 Location

Bivacco Bedin (2,210 m)
Pale di San Lucano, Dolomites (Italy)

🚶 Route Description

Start: Pradimezzo (Cencenighe Agordino)
Trails: 764 → 765

The trail is well-marked from the start and easy to follow.
There are no technical sections, no scrambling, no exposure — but the ascent is consistently steep, so good pacing is key.

📏 Hike Stats

• Elevation gain: ~1,400 m
• Distance: ~7 km
• Time uphill: 4–5 hours (depending on pace)
• Difficulty: physically demanding, technically easy

💧 Water & Supplies

• Small spring on the way (can be very weak in dry months)
• Rainwater tank available at the bivouac
👉 Do not rely solely on the spring

🛖 Bivouac Info

• Capacity: 9 people
• Mattresses & blankets available
• Moka pot for coffee ☕
• First-come, first-served

⚠️ In summer and on weekends, it can get crowded — arriving earlier helps.

🏕 Overnight Experience

The bivouac stands on an open plateau with 360° views.
Sunset and sunrise here are absolutely worth staying overnight for. Despite its popularity, the place still feels peaceful once the day hikers leave.

🎒 My Personal Tips

• Start early, especially in summer
• Bring trekking poles for the descent
• Respect the space — leave it better than you found it
• If full, the surroundings still offer quiet spots to rest and enjoy the views
