KAZUMA KANEKO’S TSUKUYOMI just dropped on the Nintendo Switch eShop ($24.99 USD), and it looks like a total trip.
🃏 What’s the Vibe?
Imagine a deck-building roguelike fused with the dark, atmospheric world-building Kaneko is famous for (think Shin Megami Tensei vibes). You play as one of four Divine Hunters climbing The Hashira , a demon-infested high-rise.
Here’s why I think this is going to be a banger:
* The Aesthetic: Kaneko’s character designs are iconic. Seeing his style applied to a modern roguelike is a dream come true for old-school RPG fans.
* Insane Replayability: They’re touting over 3,000 Creation Cards. The game uses generative AI for these cards, which is a bold move, but it means no two runs will ever look or play the same.
* Moral Alignment Matters: Your choices actually change which cards you get. I love it when a game forces me to weigh my soul against a powerful deck buff.
⚔️ The DMC5 Crossover (Wait, what?!)
This is the part that really caught me off guard. You can actually run into Dante, Nero, and Vergil from Devil May Cry 5. If you beat them, they join your deck as Jinma allies. Bringing Stylish Action to a card game sounds like a chaotic delight, and I am here for it.
☕ My Take
Honestly? This feels like a steal at twenty-five bucks. It’s got that perfect just one more run loop mixed with the deep, philosophical storytelling we usually only get in massive 80-hour JRPGs. Plus, seeing the Devil May Cry crew in Kaneko’s art style is basically fan-service at its highest level.
If you’re looking for something to sink your teeth into on your Switch this weekend, this is definitely it.
