Hi, it’s Yuko here.
Today I’m sharing something I’ve been secretly thinking about for a long time... 🤫
❓Is the “👎” button really necessary?
Many YouTubers—including myself—put a lot of heart and effort into making our videos.
Yes, even if we’re using apps or tools, it doesn’t mean we’re not trying. 💻🎨
But... that little 👎 can hurt more than you think.
💬 I get it—sometimes criticism is valid.
And to be honest,
I do think the dislike button can be helpful…
🟡 But only if it comes with context.
Without that, it's just… mystifying.
🌀 “Wait, why did this video get a thumbs down?”
🌀 “What exactly didn’t they like?”
🚨 Here’s what I wish YouTube would do:
When someone clicks the Dislike button, they should also have to:
👉 Select a reason from a list
OR
👉 Write a brief explanation
🔐 And that reason? Visible only to the creator.
So viewers stay anonymous, but creators get constructive feedback.
🔍 For example:
❌ “Your knitting technique was wrong.”
❌ “I couldn’t understand your English.”
❌ “The music was too loud.”
Simple. Helpful. Fair.
But if the comment is rude or abusive?
🚫 Automatically filtered. No hate allowed.
🧶 Why it matters:
As creators, we’re constantly learning.
We want to improve—but we need to know how.
Blank disapproval doesn’t help us grow.
🤔 What do you think?
Should feedback be more meaningful?
Wouldn’t YouTube be a kinder space if we disagreed with care?
If you’ve ever shared something you made—whether it’s a video, art, writing, or music—you probably understand this feeling. 💛
☕️✨ Let’s support creators with kindness.
If this post resonated with you,
Buy me a coffee and leave a kind note.
It keeps me going more than you know. 🥰
💡Thanks for reading.
