At the very start of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, none of us knew who or what to trust. It was a very uncertain time and to combat our sense of isolation, my wife, our neighbor, and myself decided to do something creative to maintain our sanity. We shot a short horror film called DON'T BE AFRAID.
As of today, our film has been accepted to 145 film festivals! It's won awards for BEST THRILLER from the 2021 Couch Film Festival and BEST MUSIC (Shout out to composer Fernando Macias-Jimenez!) from 2021's Independent Horror Movie Awards! So much fun and very rewarding considering we did this for ourselves with no budget, crew, or access to top tier equipment.
We're waiting on a few more festivals to let us know if we're in or out but we plan to release the film online sometime later this year. Until then, enjoy this glimpse into our isolated process and, if you're looking to shoot something but don't think you have enough connections or the right equipment... forget all that. You can achieve anything. Trust us. We did.
So get out there and shoot. But look out for one another while you do.
