In an ongoing effort to promote a greater appreciation of maritime history and culture, Marine Café Blog has added a new file to its Download section.
'A Mariner's Sketches' is worthwhile including in your library. Published in 1830, it is a personal account of life at sea by Nathaniel Ames, an American author of several books who had a 12-year naval career. Ames offers glimpses of shipboard culture on an 19th-century naval vessel and ruminates on waterfront life in foreign ports.
