I don't remember exactly when, but a couple of years ago now, and thanks to constant lurking on reddit, I discovered the more aesthetic and creative applications of InfraRed / Full Spectrum photography. While I had heard of it before, even had an IR camera in my hands, it had been in the context of astrophotography, and at the time I didn't think of an application beyond that.
There I was, amazed and inspired by an endless parade of images of landscapes and portraits with unreal colors, where light ends up behaving very differently from what one normally sees and makes us discover a whole new world, right there, a second layer of reality. I loved the idea of this new reality, different, psychedelic, dreamlike and hidden to the naked eye, and I had to find a way to experiment with this unique and unreal aesthetic.
I had an already modified camera within reach (which I still use, hoping to modify one of my own) and the final step was to get a filter to achieve this specific effect, which was to emulate a well-known Kodak film, obviously already discontinued and impossible to find. As we were in the middle of the Covid19 pandemic, it was very difficult to get something, so in the end I opted for this other option, which was brought to me from the United States thanks to a friend of a friend.
These are some of the first images that I started to make, also inspired by the work of creators like Noe Alonzo, Alex Bolen, Joaquin Mounteer and others; that describe a bit of last summer, one of the strangest summers of all and that I think fits perfectly with the captures.
My goal is to make video with this technique, so there is still a long way to go at least to understand all the technical implications and modify a camera that is suitable for that.

No recuerdo con exactitud en que momento, pero hace un par de años ya, y gracias al lurkeo constante en reddit, descubrí las aplicaciones más estéticas y creativas de la fotografía InfraRoja / Full Spectrum. Si bien había oido antes de ella, incluso tenido una cámara IR en mis manos, había sido en el contexto de la astrofotografía, y en ese momento no pensé en una aplicación mas allá de eso.
Ahi estaba, maravillado e inspirado por un desfile infinito de imágenes de paisajes y retratos con colores irreales, en donde la luz termina por comportarse de forma muy distinta a lo que uno normalmente ve y nos hace descubrir un mundo completamente nuevo, ahi mismo, una segunda capa de realidad. Me encantó la idea de esta realidad nueva, distinta, medio psicodélica, onírica y oculta a simple vista, y no me quedo otra que buscar la forma de experimentar con esta estética tan irreal y única.
Tenía una cámara ya modificada al alcance (que aún uso, esperando poder modificar una mía) y el paso final era conseguir un filtro para lograr este efecto en específico, que era emular una conocida película Kodak obviamente ya descontinuada e imposible de pillar. Como estabamos en medio de la pandemia Covid19, me fue bien difícil conseguir algo, así que al final me incliné por esta otra opción, que me trajeron desde Estados Unidos gracias al amigo de un amigo.
Estas son algunas de las primeras imágenes que me lancé a hacer inspirado también por el trabajo de creadores como Noe Alonzo, Alex Bolen, Joaquin Mounteer y otros más; que describen un poco del Verano pasado, uno de los veranos mas raros de todos y que creo que calza perfecto con las capturas.
Mi objetivo es hacer video con esta técnica, así que aún queda un buen tramo al menos para entender todas las implicancias técnicas y modificar una cámara que sea apta para eso.
