liveGfree Deluxe Rice Pasta & Cheese This mac-n-cheese goes toe-to-toe with the regular boxed varities

By Mike Thayer

Who doesn't love Mac-n-Cheese?

In looking for ways to reduce my intake of gluten, eliminating wheat products from my diet such as traditional pasta and breads, I've been in search of alternatives to the snacks and comfort foods I enjoy.

Enter, liveGfree Deluxe Rice Pasta & Cheese.

As easy to prepare as a box of Kraft Mac-n-Cheese, this stuff tastes just as good.  You do have to pay strict attention to the box directions however, rice pasta will easily over cook and it definitely needs to be stirred.  Add the cheese sauce to the cooked and drained pasta, gently stir to incorporate and you've got a delicious side dish in about 10 minutes.

The rice pasta is a nice substitute for traditional wheat noodles, it would be fun to do a blind taste test to see if folks could tell the difference.  The cheese sauce is creamy with a delightful, robust cheddar flavor.  A great addition to any meal (or a meal by itself for that matter), liveGfree Deluxe Rice Pasta & Cheese holds its own against any regular boxed mac-n-cheese product.  It has found a permanent spot in my pantry and I'm giving it 5 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars.  It's easy to prepare, tastes good and reasonably priced even for a gluten free product, costing me $2.69 for a 12 ounce box at Aldi.  Compare that to a box of Kraft Deluxe Original Cheddar Mac N Cheese at $3.79 for a 14 ounce box at the mainstream grocery store, or a box of  Velveeta Shells $ Cheese, a 12 ounce box of that also costing $3.79 at the mainstream grocery.

5 stars
