News!

Aug 30, 2023

Hey everyone! This week’s definitely the calm before the storm; most companies are gearing up for their new seasons and I’m getting ready for an exciting and full fall schedule. In the meantime, I wanted to highlight some cool things which are happening right now for myself and A View from the Box!

Stageworthy Interview

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Phil Rickaby for his podcast Stageworthy! You might remember reading about my love for this podcast in my Thursday Theatre Thoughts post at the beginning of the month: http://aviewfromthebox.net/2023/08/03/thursday-theatre-thoughts-theatre-podcasts/

I was a healthy mix of nervous and excited going into the interview, but Phil put me right at ease and we had such a fun conversation. We talk about everything from reviewing to social media to the hectic 12 days that is the Toronto Fringe Festival. Phil is such a valuable member of the theatre scene here in Toronto and I’m grateful to have been asked to be a part of his podcast. If you’d like to hear the interview, you can find Stageworthy on most music streaming services, or you can follow the link to the website: https://stageworthy.ca

Patreon and Buy Me a Coffee

The other little piece of news I have is that I’ve started a Patreon and Buy Me a Coffee for A View from the Box! I posted a video on the weekend and have received a heartwarming response already.

For those of you who might not know, I left my full time job back at the end of June. I felt that I wasn’t able to give my full self to the job or to writing, and the stress was very overwhelming. After many long discussions with my partner, we agreed that putting myself into my writing was definitely the way to go. I’ve been so happy since making this change, and I can’t wait to bring you all along on this journey with me!

My monthly subscribers on Patreon can expect plenty of new content, including my “3 Days Later” posts, a more in depth analysis of the plays I see, along with early access to interviews, being a part of the Thank You’s at the bottom of each post, and welcome packages of merch! If a monthly subscription isn’t possible right now, then you can always make a one-time donation on my Buy Me a Coffee. I’ll make sure you get a Thank You at the bottom of my posts as well and make sure you get in on some of the other Patron goodies!

I know things are tough right now, I truly do. Any little bit will help me keep the lights on and ensure that A View from the Box can keep being an independent resource for all things live performance in the GTA and beyond.
