The period-tracking app "Kotori Bookmark" is complete.
I'm relieved to finally be able to release it into the world.
So far, my family has been happily using it, just like they did with my previous app.
If an app is made just for your family, it's basically custom-made, isn't it?
That makes it feel like a bit of a luxury item.
I released it for free so anyone can use it, and I also put out a press release.
Honestly, I'd love to try posting on Reddit and reach an international audience too, but I still don't quite have the courage for that... Maybe someday I'll work up the nerve to give it a try.
Development is just so much more fun than promotion!
So, I've already moved on to my next project.
Next up, I'm remaking a price comparison app I used to have published on Google Play.
There were a bunch of things I wanted to fix, so I'm hoping to clean up as much as I can this time around.
Honestly, spec-planning time is the best. It might be the most exciting moment in solo development.
No one to answer to — I get to build whatever features I want, in whatever layout I want. No deadlines either, so I can take as much time as I need until I'm satisfied.
It really doesn't get better than this.
And having AI to consult with along the way makes it all so much more reassuring.
Back in the day, I sometimes ended up with some pretty questionable implementations. For example, in the price comparison app, I once wanted users to be able to enter quantities as fractions like "1/2," so as a workaround, I stored "1/2" as "-2" in the database (SQLite). At the time, my reasoning was "using a decimal (0.5) doesn't feel intuitive" — but looking back now, using negative numbers wasn't intuitive at all either.
These days, I'm truly grateful that I can talk through these old, quirky design choices with AI and actually land on a "sensible solution."
Also, to focus on developing this new app, I'll be pausing my weekly Wednesday blog updates for a while.

生理管理アプリ「小鳥のしおり」が完成しました。
ようやく世に放つことができて、ほっとしています。
今のところ、前作のアプリからずっと家族が便利に使ってくれています。
家族のためだけに作ったアプリだとしたら、もうオーダーメイドみたいなものですよね。
ちょっと贅沢な一品です。
誰でも無料で使えるように公開し、プレスリリースも出しました。
本当は Reddit に挑戦して海外にもアピールしたい気持ちはあるのですが、まだ勇気が足りず……。
そのうち挑戦できたらいいな、と思っています。
宣伝するより開発している時間の方が圧倒的に楽しい！
ということで、さっそく次の開発に進むことにしました。
次は、以前 Google Play で公開していた価格比較アプリのリメイクに取り掛かります。
いろいろ修正したいところがあったので、この機会にできる限り解消したいと思っています。
やっぱり仕様を練っている時間は最高ですね。個人開発で一番ワクワクする瞬間かもしれません。
誰にも文句を言われず、好きな機能を好きなレイアウトで形にできる。納期もないので、納得いくまで時間をかけられる。
もう最高です。
さらに今は AI に相談しながら進められるのが、本当に心強いです。
昔はちょっと迷走した実装をしてしまったこともあります。例えば当時、価格比較アプリで商品の数量を「1/2」のような分数でも入力したくなり、苦肉の策で「1/2 ＝ -2」としてDB（SQLite）に数値で記録していたんです。「小数点（0.5）にするのは直感的じゃない」というこだわりからだったのですが、今思うとマイナス表記も全然直感的じゃないですよね。
こうした過去のへんてこな仕様も、今は AI と相談しながら「まともな解決方法」を見つけられるのが本当にありがたいです。
