Pick Your Poison Part 1

Pick Your Poison Part 1

Jun 11, 2023

My life wasn't always strange and unusual, but then again, my life didn't really start until I died.

And let me tell you just what happened before we start my journey of horror, romance and adventure.

I woke up feeling sick to my stomach, which wasn't unusual but still, upsetting. So my day started off as normal. Woke up in my hospital room feeling done with life. With only my computer that could bring me enjoyment in this seemingly undying world.

Life hasn't always been easy. And as J.M.Barrie once said, "To die will be an awfully big adventure."

. . .What a big adventure indeed. . .

My last day started off bitter. Which was normal, but not in a good way.

In other words, I was caught off guard by the fact that my heart monitor started going into a frenzy of beeps while I sat there calmly in the plain white sheets as those nurses and doctors bustled around me in panic.

I knew it was my time, it was only a matter of when exactly.

Everyone thinks they would die normally or in a somehow creative way of recklessness. I, however, don't even know the reason for my death. I wasn't diagnosed with any disease or anything, but rather just put into the hospital after having a seizure in middle school.

No one could figure out my sickness that made me weaker each day. No matter how many blood tests they took, nothing came up.

So after some time, I decided it was finally my time to go... today.

My death was peaceful and very warm. I felt like I was in my own little cocoon, having no purpose or drive, just in the moment.

...But that's quickly thrown out the window by the fact that my cocoon started moving and pushing me out of my warm home I had become used to.

I felt little panic, but rather irritation and anger. My little home was quickly replaced with the coldness of a cool night's air.

I looked around me to see I was covered in a goopy substance, leaves keeping my innocence at bay. My sloppy red hair covering my face as I looked around in curiosity.

That was until my eyes laid upon two ladies in front of me, who looked at me in shock.

"Was this supposed to happen..?" A red haired woman asked, looking at me in wonder, and no matter how much she looked familiar to me, I couldn't put a name to her face. She was wearing what a typical teacher would wear, a long dark red skirt, with a dark green sweater.

"I don't think something like this had ever happened in our history books, I'm not sure how to report this to the council or community." —Another woman spoke up, the second one who was quite tall, dressed in the nines, white hair and clothing to match. Her red lipstick was quite eye catching. And she looked quite familiar as well.

I decided to speak but my voice was quite rough as I spoke up. I could only speak one word.

"H-Happened...?" I questioned, but it seems I wasn't answered and only looked at in shock.

I moved the blood red hair away from my face, looked at them with my clear eyes, now that I could finally see instead of looking through my hair strands, I noticed they took a step back, almost like they were expecting something much different.

I looked behind me to see a huge cocoon, like a man eating plant except it seemed to have held me inside of its mouth. It was growing brown and dead behind me quite fast. Shriveled up dried leaves around it.

So, that was how my first day in this new world began, and what a welcoming I seemed to have...
