WHAT ON EARTH is a WORD OF THE YEAR????
The Word of the Year (also called the One Little Word) is a way to channel and focus your thoughts, ideas and prayers for the New Year. Rather than a long list of resolutions and promises to yourself that you most likely will be unable to keep, this One Word is a call to become more of the person God wants you to be rather than a wish list of things you want to be.
By choosing a single Word, you allow yourself some clarity and focus, a way to look forward rather than focusing on changing the past. Your focus becomes "More of God, Less of Me"
This Word can be anything that God has placed on your heart, some examples are Hope, Peace, Trust, Abide, Bloom, Grow, Wisdom, Joy.....you get the idea....
You can journal your Word, pray your Word, write it in your planner, create word art with it, whatever you do with your Word, the idea is to use it as a stepping stone to bring your closer to the Lord as you journey with Him this year. Keep your Word close to your heart, keep it visible and keep it intentional!
Now, honestly I'm not the sort of person who does something just because everyone else is doing it (did your mother also always tell you, "Just because everyone else jumps in the fire it doesn't mean you should too"?) So I really wasn't planning to choose a WOTY for 2022 but God had other plans.....
How did I find my Word? Well everywhere I looked, everything I read and everything I saw, this one overriding theme kept jumping out at me.....OBEDIENCE
Seriously!??? Why couldn't it be something simple and easy, like BLOOM or THRIVE? Why did it have to be OBEDIENCE!!! Well, I guess the challenge is on then so in Obedience, I decided to make this my WOTY and I will be using this Word as a focus through which I will filter everything I do and learn this year, so please keep me in your thoughts and prayers, I have a feeling this is going to be a tough one!
I created this cute Word Of The Year Freebie for you to use if you have a WOTY for 2022! You can get it from my Extras tab here
I would love to know if you have a Word and what it is???
Love and Blessings,
Charlene
