Pouch 7: Of An Older Persausion

Pouch 7: Of An Older Persausion

Aug 25, 2024

It's been some time since I posted last, but that doesn't mean I've stopped making pouches!

Here is pouch 7.

The pattern here is identical to Pouch 6, but with a bigger piece of fabric. But look at that fabric!

This was rescued from the scraps bin at the Hackspace. It reminds me of the kinds of cushions you'd find in older family members' houses. It's a sturdy fabric, so I'm sure this pouch will last quite some time. I still need to learn how to do a ladder stitch to pull the hole on the joined-together fabric. There's a fairly gnarly bit of hand stitching to get it closed at the moment.

I found in Hobbycraft this cord that seems to match the fabric perfectly. It'll eventually suffer from fraying, but I have tied the ends. So long as that knot holds, so should the cord.

The eyelets and grommets have once again worked really well. They're properly stuck in there. This time I got bronze ones, which fit the colour pallet wonderfully. Since they're set properly, the bag opens and closed nicely too. I also played around with the number of eyelets: an odd number this time, with the cord exiting through the same hole. This means you can pull the two cords to properly close it.

I'm not so keen on the shape of the pouch. I'd like it to have more "neck", but I expect that will need to have a more complex fabric shape that a simple circle. I'm not quite sure what this shape would be though. Maybe more than one piece of fabric?

Destination of this pouch: Looking pretty on my shelf.
