Let’s focus a little more on ZR’s Autofocus(AF) capabilities. Check out this clip which shows the following:
3D tracking stability while zooming into a subject
How to turn ON & OFF subject detection using the i-menu (i-button)
3D tracking with People detection
3D tracking with subject detection OFF
Lens used was the Z24-70mm f/2.8 S II. Everything was done hand-held

COMMENTARY
The objective of the clip above was to show that the ZR’s tracking was actually pretty impressive & spot on. In the REAL world, I would NOT have missed any shot because I would NOT be tracking for so long or moving sometimes so erratically before I took the shot just so you understand 😁
Even without subject detection 3D tracking worked very well , you will notice that it tracked the head/ neck area a lot & the AF area was NOT distracted or jumping around to the other people that were around which may not had been the case if I had used people detection.
TIP | for 3D where you place the 3D square to start the tracking is very important for best results.
Bottomline, excellent 3D AF tracking performance from the ZR , very comparable to the Z6III
