Maytime in a Cheshire woodland is a glorious time of year. Take a walk with me and Bella as we stroll through the unfurling glorious green of Lawton Woods where I grew up. Birdsong heralds the time of eggs and the great flowering of blossom. Below Hawthorn and Cow Parsley, also known as Queen Annes Lace.
Tall trees over the hidden waters of the brook surrounded by Bear Garlic.
I adore Beech Trees at this time of year and walking the pathway through the Bear Garlic.
There's a little path runs past some Alders then through some blackthorn. This is just a quick bit of unedited rough footage, enjoy the birdsong.
Here the stream broadens out and slows down wandering slowly among the trees.
A Wood Dragon has appeared raising its' head among the Bluebells. If you like dragons of all kinds you can find more here in my Dragons of the British Isles Facebook group.
Bluebells, a gateway into Fairy Land with their misty dreaming blue flowers and delicate scent.
The sign of a healthy woodland is teh diversity of flowers. Here you can Red Campion, Archangel, Bluebells and Bear Garlic, also known as Wild Garlic or Rampsons, Allium Ursinum.
Speedwell are a lovely little flower and often overlooked but spread a carpet of sky across the ground when they are happy and settled in a place.
Here at the end of the All Saints churchyard in Church Lawton is this lovely old Birch with Red Campion and its' feet and in the foreground a carpet of Speedwell.
