It's been a while since my last writing update. Mostly because I've been knee deep in a book edit for a friend. BUT I have some writing and author news.
As of 12/19, I sent messages out to my alpha readers! Crazy, I know! I'm so excited for this next phase because I've been itching to get feedback on this book and I have a great group.
On top of that, I have some folks already slotted for beta reading, too. I am equally excited for both because that means people are actually interested in the book more than just the concept. Because we all know there are books out there that have great concepts, but don't land once the reader goes to read.
So, for the next two weeks I'm buckling down to work on the next ten chapters ahead of the first submission to my alphas. I may be a little quiet on subscription content here for January, but expect the early access WIP updates for patrons/regulars as normal. And, of course, I'm working on the next few posts about backstory as promised. You'll see them show up in January.
Non-writing Update: Patrons and Regulars got the update as did Instagram. We have a COVER! I won a giveaway by my favorite digital artist who created a cover with character art. I won't be able to show much, but the joy inside me to have my characters drawn as well as a cover is surreal.
The entire process brought me so much closer to my characters. I feel like so many alternative readers are going to feel seen when they see characters who represent their style. And if I'm honest, seeing an FMC with my body shape and size made me tear up.
Representation has been one of the most important aspects of writing this book and I'll be damned if readers don't see that from the front cover. If I can provide validation for one reader, my goal will have been accomplished.
Hopefully, the next time I update here, I will have some big progress in writing and will be sending my first set of pages to alpha readers!
